Helicopter or private jet? Which for short distances?

A helicopter for short distances when you need to land somewhere without an airport; a jet for longer distances with more passengers and baggage. The choice depends on distance, landing site, group size and weather.

When does a helicopter make sense?

  • When you want to reach a place without an airport, such as an approved helipad or landing site.
  • When you want to skip traffic in a city or over a short distance.
  • With few passengers and little baggage.

When does a jet make sense?

  • As the distance grows: a jet is much faster and has a longer range.
  • With more passengers and baggage.
  • When the weather could limit a helicopter flight.

Both together

On some trips the most practical solution is to fly the long leg by jet and the last short leg by helicopter.

Short hop or longer trip?

Send a helicopter request or get private jet quotes; both are free and do not commit you.
